If knowledge truly is power, then this book is a must-read for parents who have felt concerned, confused, or threatened by the apparent invasion of the controversial Common Core State Standards into their child's math education. This book is written as a practical, survival guide for parents of elementary aged students. Read up on the standard overview for each elementary grade level; discover some of the truth behind the Common Core myths; study examples of key methods and models being incorporated into many Common Core guided classrooms; understand some of the research that has led to the "new" methods; and watch companion videos that help bring additional clarity to the material. Whether you have a fourth or fifth grade student who is struggling with fractions or a Kindergartner who is just entering the school system, this book is for you. Book Content Includes: -Understanding the Standards for Mathematical Practice -A Basic Outline of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics
Editorial : 1. "This is without a doubt the best book I have found for adults working with children and Common Core math. I spent a lot of time at the library trying to find something that was user friendly, clear and concise and would provide adult support to a second grader. The library books were all too long on theory and short on actual, simple explanations and most importantly, examples! I wish schools would have this available, for parents and others who provide support to children, to preview and even check out for a couple of days so they could use it with their child. The second grader in my life, has made gigantic leaps and is doing most of his homework with minimal supervision. He is excited about math, which is the best result of all. Seriously, this book is worth the price, I can't recommend it too highly!" -K.B. Portland 2. "This book really helped me help our son. I get it now! From the moment I laid eyes on the front cover of this book it just screamed elegance and quality. If you're trying to understand someone with bipolar disorder this book should be helpful. The notes frighten Miranda, especially since the note writer says that someone close to her is in danger. The idea behind the book was a solid one, I wish it had been done better. The demonstrations are excellent and so easy to follow and I love the way encouragement is always given before asking the student to try the behaviour a different way - particularly not saying ANYTHING.
Brilliant book and I would recommend it for any beginner to train their dog and to achieve behaviours. I even remembered the words and I haven't heard the songs in over 20 years. ok. The author experienced a lot in her life, both good and evil. I enjoy rea
