Originally from Pennsylvania, Mo Owen, nom de plume for Mark Fleming, has called North Carolina home for more than 20 years. His first real job was in mental health, which was fine preparation for successfully matriculating at the MFA Writing Program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and later teaching writing and literature at UNC-Greensboro, Elon University, High Point University and Guilford Technical Community College. His stories have appeared in regional and national journals, including Cities & Roads, Full Circle Journal, O.Henry Festival Stories 2003, and Night Train. Most recently, “A Father’s Place” appears in the Press 53 story anthology Surreal South’11and “Burning Dog” appears in The Other Journal, No. 20, the thematically evil issue.
