Shortly thereafter, my 2nd grader's teacher sent a note to all of the parents in her class essentially asking us all to stop trying to "re-teach" or correct the way that our kids were doing 2 digit addition because it was creating confusion. George is not afraid of telling us his inner thoughts and even his past failures, all to aid us in our search to better results. Her focus is where it should be: On the music. What a fun ride this book is, and what a labor of love Mackenzie Dodds's life has turned out to be.. So deeply in fact, that it may thwart a reader from wading across the ‘personal’ part to the ‘universal’ one.
This is the first book of this author and it shows here and there. There is humor, subtleties and friendships all written in to his book in such clever ways. I loved this book! It's the best book I've read in the last five years. We will never forget.. Just because we don&rsq
